The simplest way to travel to Punta Mita is to fly directly to Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport in Puerto Vallarta, and rent a car to drive the rest of the way. The drive takes roughly 40 minutes.
The easiest way to get around in Punta Mita is to rent a car. Many amenities are walkable, however, and community bicycle rentals are widely available. There is no public transportation on Punta Mita.
The best time of year to visit Punta Mita, Mexico is during the winter, from December to February, when the average daytime temperature is between 26°C and 28°C.

Whale watching: Every year, tens of thousands of whales migrate to the nearby warm waters of Banderas Bay, which faces Punta Mita.

Hike or bike: Community bikes, either e-bikes or cruisers, can be rented for leisurely rides around the island at any time. For more ambitious nature lovers, a four-hour hike up to Monkey Mountain may appeal.
