Most travellers fly into Barbados, landing at Grantly Adams International Airport. It’s about a forty-minute drive to Paynes Bay from the airport. Your Rental Escapes concierge can arrange airport transfers.

While you can walk along Paynes Bay roads, you will want to rent a car if you want to explore the rest of the Platinum Coast, or Barbados in general. You can drive around Barbados relatively easily compared to other parts of the Caribbean. Private drivers and taxis are also available. Peak season in Paynes Bay is December-April. That’s when the weather is best, but also when there are the most visitors.

Shoulder season is November-December and May-June. Precipitation increases, mostly through afternoon showers. For many, this is the best time to go thanks to the lower number of visitors.

Wet season is June-November and sees the highest chance of rain. It also coincides with hurricane season, though the chance of an actual hurricane is low. This is when you’ll find the best deals on Paynes Bay villas.

Paynes Bay is very safe. Barbados is one of the safest countries in the Caribbean. Many of our Paynes Bay villas are also gated and staffed, and the water at Paynes Bay Beach is very calm.

Enjoy the beach: Paynes Bay Beach is famous for its soft, white sand and calm, clean waters. It's perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying a leisurely day by the sea.

Get out onto the water: The bay provides excellent conditions for water sports. Try jet skiing, paddle boarding, or snorkelling. The area is also known for its turtle population, offering a unique opportunity to snorkel with these majestic creatures.

Go on a catamaran cruise: For a truly thrilling and luxurious day on the water, take a catamaran cruise and explore the rest of the Platinum Coast. Cruises often include stops for snorkelling, along with food and drinks. Ask your concierge for more information.

While Paynes Bay has a relatively limited number of restaurants, those that are here are high in quality. There’s also a big emphasis on fresh seafood and dining with a view.

Dry season from December to April sees mild, lovely weather. Average temperatures are 24-29°C (75-84°F), and average precipitation is 40-60 mm (1.6-2.4 in) per month.

Wet season from June to November sees an elevated chance of showers, especially in the afternoon. Average temperatures are around 26-31°C (79-88°F), and average precipitation ranges from 100-180 mm (3.9-7.1 in) per month.
